NANIWA Nagura Dressing Stone “IRODORI” – Japanese Surface Conditioning Stone for Whetstone Slurry & Sharpening Control (#220–#12000)
The NANIWA Nagura Dressing Stone “IRODORI” is a Japanese surface conditioning stone designed to enhance the performance of whetstones.
Unlike sharpening stones, Nagura stones are used to activate and condition the surface of a whetstone by generating fine abrasive slurry. This slurry improves sharpening efficiency, controls cutting speed, and helps achieve a smoother and more refined edge.
“IRODORI” is a synthetic Nagura stone developed to provide consistent and predictable performance, unlike natural Nagura stones which vary in grain structure. It produces a controlled slurry that can be adjusted depending on grit selection.
By using different grit levels of IRODORI, users can:
- Accelerate sharpening speed with coarser Nagura
- Reduce scratching and refine finish with finer Nagura
- Clean and refresh clogged whetstone surfaces
It can also be lightly rubbed directly on blades or used to clean and maintain whetstone surfaces, making it a highly versatile sharpening accessory.
Available grit range: #220 to #12000 (multiple variations)
