NANIWA GOUKEN Curved Blade Sharpening Stone – Pruning Shears & Scissors Whetstone (#220 / #1000 / #3000)
The NANIWA GOUKEN Curved Blade Sharpening Stone is a specialized Japanese whetstone designed specifically for sharpening curved cutting edges such as pruning shears and garden scissors.
Conventional flat whetstones are difficult to use on curved blades because they do not match the blade geometry. This stone solves that problem by incorporating a specially shaped sharpening surface that allows both the convex cutting blade and concave anvil blade of pruning shears to be sharpened more effectively.
It is designed to be used after disassembling the tool, ensuring precise maintenance of each blade. The curved sharpening surface helps maintain the original blade geometry without altering the cutting angle.
After sharpening, burrs can be removed using the flat side of the stone by lightly rubbing the edge. It is important not to over-sharpen the inner surface, as this may affect blade alignment and cutting performance.
This model was developed in collaboration with professional Japanese blacksmiths to achieve optimal curvature and sharpening balance for a wide range of pruning shear designs.
Available in grit combinations of #220, #1000, and #3000, it supports everything from heavy repair to fine finishing.
